GET SICK WITH IT!

I sat here for quite a while today. I thought about my 4 sons and the world that we live in. We live in a progressive world of ideas, values, and actions. We can map the stars, explore the human genome, and manipulate energy to serve us. Yet we still actively expose our innate ignorant bigotries on a daily basis. We will allow young black men/women to be murdered in this country. In the south we still refuse to give justice despite the evidence. We flourish and delight in the stereotypes handed down from ignorant ancestors. We encourage our progeny to participate in this madness. Yet, we claim to be a better generation. Millions upon Millions of black lives have left this world in HORROR. This is not a genuflected number; I am not bending or altering the truth. More black lives have left this "modern" world of the last two centuries than at any other time. Many will argue that the American Indian experienced worse but that would not follow basic logic. When you kill a person you kill all they are and everything they ever will be or contribute to life. When they killed the Indians they slaughtered them and left them no way to repopulate. This is not the case with African Americans. We were used as cattle! We were breed as cattle! When we were not needed because the master had other cattle, he slaughtered us to scare the other cattle into submission. In all this, he ensured that his slaves were fruitful. He raped the females; mothers, daughters, sisters, and aunts. He made sure that children would replenish his stock! Once they were born he sold many of them to acquire fully grown slaves to replenish his stock! He killed off the weak and made way for the strong. He wanted pedigree and he got it any way he could. Millions of black lives were obliterated because they didn't meet this pedigree. When you compare the American Indian to the African American think of it in terms of whole-out slaughter and slow bleeding destruction. They both are Holocausts to a race of people. Sadly, we go out of our way to diminish the African American suffering. We try to ignore it or talk it down because slavery doesn't exist anymore! Its a laughable ruse. We have a Jewish Holocaust Museum in our country even though we never participated in the holocaust of the Jews. There has been fundraising for a National Slavery Museum for the last 15 years and nothing has come of it. America wants to ignore and forget its bloody history. Today we can do amazing things. Yet, we still will not let go of the racial hate and injustice. Blacks still are slaughtered as they were in older times. As in those days, the only thing that gets white attention is the slaughter of their own. This is especially true of white woman and children. Hate me for saying it. Get sick about it! I hope you do because it is truthful and historical. It can be argued that the Civil Rights movement didn't hit the national conscience until the deaths of Viola Liuzzo, Clergyman Jonathan Daniels, Rev. Bruce Klunder, and Rev. James Reeb. Many people don't even remember these martyrs. They are just as important as Vernon Dahmer and Medger Evers because of their significance. When these people were killed white America took notice. They saw racists whites killing their own. It became a full international incident. Sadly, It took these horrible "white" deaths to convince President Johnson to take a firm stand and sign the Civil Rights Bill. That is a fact! Look it up! Oh, history is wickedly truthful and once something is documented it is hard to ignore. At a time when we can do so many glorious things, we continue to be racist and unfeeling toward each other. It sickens me and I write about it to sicken others. Only when we are all sick with it can we decide to find a cure. Then we can remember the Black Holocaust, martyrs, and deaths as great sacrifices toward reaching the cure for racism. Until them we just fester and dishonor the memory of their sacrifices. So get sick with it so we can finally find a cure before we pass our disease on to our children.
