Police Humanity

I beg you to stop killing. Stop murdering our brothers, sisters, and friends. Stop offering excuses after a pretext. They won't wash away your sins. Stop saying, "It was a perfect storm of ignorant mistakes." Take real accountability for the innocent lives you take. Stop criminalizing my children to easily justify your hate. Stop saying you fear for your life when it's our lives you take. The writing is on the wall, and the sad truth is painfully real. Too many officers don't care about the futures they often steal. You claim it's the fear and stress that makes you take a life. However, in stop after stop, you rarely kill murderous whites. You say race doesn't matter, but the facts show you are corrupt. The blue line is your facetious excuse to kill or rough blacks up. For years our communities endured oppression that were seen as lies. Our family members were abused and sometimes taken out of our lives. The police were created as "Overseers" to beat "savage niggers" back. You trained yourselves to see the danger in every arguing black. White men murder innocent victims and are treated as ill and weak. However, mentally ill black man are summarily shot dead in our streets. Dylan Roof was given a burger; unarmed Tamir Rice was shot dead. James Holmes was taken alive, while Oscar Grant was shot in the head. Over and over again we endure the violence that you call: "Keeping the peace!" Blacks are dying in droves because you see them as beasts! Your madness is overwhelming and causes tears to flow every day. Officers keep issuing out justice, and it's our people who often pay. You are supposed to be the protectors of every American citizen. However, you protect your dog before the life of innocent black men. I again beseech you to stop killing and find your lost humanity. No one should be killed for being black in the land of the free. I ask that you reference your fellow black officers:

You seem to see them as "worthy" women and men. You tell them it's not about color so they blindly support your stand. You tell them they are your brethren, and you feign ignorance on race. You claim to serve proudly with black officers through every problem you face.

So given your claims I pause to beseech you directly: Remember those black officer's humanity as you fearfully grab for your gun. Maybe, then you won't see our people a black boogie men; and you will stop killing your fellow officers fathers, mothers, daughters, and innocent sons. © Eddie Phillips
